Mój Prąd 5.0 – who can apply?
The subsidy program is aimed at individuals producing electricity for their own needs. Prosumer applicants who settle accounts via net-billing can apply for the subsidy from the Mój Prąd 5.0 program. Those settling in the old system can receive support by changing the discount system to net-billing.
In Mój Prąd 5.0, 3 groups of Applicants are distinguished as eligible for funding:
1. Grantees (Applicants) who settle accounts for the produced electricity in the net-billing system and have not yet received funding for a photovoltaic micro-installation.
2. Grantees (Applicants) who settle accounts for the produced electricity in the discount system known as net-metering, who have not yet received funding for a photovoltaic micro-installation, provided they switch to net-billing.
3. Grantees (Applicants) who settle accounts for the produced electricity in the discount system known as net-metering, who have received funding for a photovoltaic micro-installation, including from the ‘Mój Prąd’ program, provided that:
a) the photovoltaic micro-installation for which funding was already received has been connected and paid for within the cost eligibility period, from 01.02.2020,
b) the system for settling produced electricity has been changed to the so-called net-billing,
c) an additional device from the range of devices indicated in the Mój Prąd program will be submitted for funding.
Mój Prąd 5.0 – what expenses does it cover?
As we have already mentioned, in the first three editions, support included only photovoltaic installations. The fourth and fifth editions of the program are a step towards efficient and safe energy. The program aims to encourage Poles to increase self-consumption and storage of energy from photovoltaic installations. Therefore, My Electricity additionally offers funds for energy, heat storage, and HEMS/EMS.
In times of energy crisis or growing network infrastructure problems, self-sufficient households that generate and consume energy as much as possible are highly desirable.
My Electricity 5.0, in addition to photovoltaics, co-finances energy storage, HEMS, heat pumps, and solar collectors.
The amount of My Electricity 5.0 grants – what funding amounts?
In the 5th edition of the My Electricity program, prosumers can count on a maximum support of 58,000 PLN. As part of the project, a grant of up to 50% of eligible costs can be obtained. The table below shows the exact amounts.
| For what? | Grant amount |
| photovoltaic micro-installation | up to 6,000 PLN (group 1 and 2 Applicants) |
| photovoltaic micro-installation + additional device | up to 7,000 PLN (group 1 and 2 Applicants) |
| heat storage | up to 5,000 PLN |
| ground heat pumps – ground/water pumps, water/water | up to 28,500 PLN |
| air/water heat pump with enhanced energy class | up to 19,400 PLN |
| air/water heat pump | up to 12,600 PLN |
| air/air heat pump | up to 4,400 PLN |
| electric energy storage | up to 16,000 PLN |
| HEMS/EMS energy management system | up to 3,000 PLN |
| solar collectors for hot water | up to 3,500 PLN |
Bonus for switching to net-billing
Applicants from group 3, i.e., individuals settling in the discount system who have already benefited from funding and now want to purchase additional equipment for their photovoltaic installation, such as a heat pump or energy storage, can receive a bonus of 3,000 PLN. The condition is switching to net-billing and purchasing the additional device.
For example – if you already have photovoltaics and settle in the discount system, you can switch to net-billing and receive an additional 3,000 PLN for photovoltaics and up to 19,400 PLN for a heat pump. You can also increase your grant by adding an energy storage system (up to 16,000 PLN) and HEMS (up to 3,000 PLN).
The maximum support amount from the Mój Prąd 5.0 program for applicants from group 3 is up to 41,400 PLN.
And how did the previous editions of Mój Prąd look like?
The first two editions of Mój Prąd offered support at the level of 5,000 PLN, the third edition just 3,000 PLN. Although these were relatively small amounts compared to the 4th edition, the program was a spectacular success. Applications were massively submitted to NFOŚiGW, and the funds were exhausted faster than planned. The budget of the third edition of the program ran out just three months after the funding started. The 4th edition also ended prematurely.
In the first round of the 4th edition, due to changes in the law, support for photovoltaics alone increased to 4,000 PLN, and with additional elements to 5,000 PLN. A prosumer investing in all products covered by the grant could receive up to 20,500 PLN. Initially, this edition did not attract much interest, hence the recruitment was extended, and the funding amount was increased.
On December 15, 2022, the second installment of the fourth edition began, with a grant of 6,000 PLN for solar panels alone, and up to 7,000 PLN for systems with other devices. But the biggest change concerned energy storage – support increased by more than double – from 7,500 PLN to 16,000 PLN. The total grant for one prosumer reached up to 32,000 PLN! Furthermore, for all applicants who submitted applications before this date and whose grants had already been paid, eligible costs were recalculated according to the new funding level and applicants received an adjustment. What was the effect of these changes? On December 15, Poles rushed for grants. The application process was supposed to last until March 31, but due to budget exhaustion, application acceptance ended on March 17.
When to install solar panels to take advantage of the grant?
So far, regardless of the program edition, expenses for the purchase and installation of systems incurred even before the application process started (even a year or two prior) were counted. In My Energy 5.0, expenses incurred from 01.02.2020 are considered.
It should be remembered that the beginning of the project is understood as incurring the first eligible cost (the date of payment of the first invoice or receipt). To receive funding, the investment must be completed. Completion of the project is understood as the connection of the micro-installation and all other devices specified in the funding application.
| My Energy Edition | Application | Expenses |
| I | 30.08.2019 to 20.12.2019 | from 23.07.2019 |
| II | 13.01.2020 to 07.12.2020 (budget exhausted) | from 21.07.2019 |
| III | from 1.07.2021 to 6.10.2021 (budget exhausted) | from 01.02.2020 |
| IV | from 15.04.2022 to 15.12.2022 (extended) | from 01.02.2020 |
| IV+ | from 15.12.2022 to 31.03.2023 | from 01.02.2020 |
| V | from 22.04.2023 | from 01.02.2020 to 31.12.2023 |
Last chance for a grant?
The ‘My Energy’ Program is planned for the years 2019-2023 or until funds are exhausted. The fifth edition may be the last chance to receive support from the My Energy program. Based on version IV+, it can be assumed that the interest will be considerable. The support amounts are high, which means the budget may run out very quickly and grants will be awarded to those who apply first, meaning those who start and complete their investment now.
Will the budget be increased in subsequent years, and will the project continue? Or will a new program replace it?
My Energy 5.0 or Clean Air?
In the My Energy 5.0 program, unlike in Clean Air, income criteria do not apply (in Clean Air, the annual income of the beneficiary cannot exceed 135,000 PLN). The money for a heat pump in MP 5.0 is available not only for replacing a solid fuel boiler, as is the case in the Clean Air program, so owners of gas boilers can also apply for a grant. It should be noted that Clean Air does not include energy storage and HEMS, so if you are interested in these devices, My Energy will be a more favorable option for you. When it comes to support amounts for photovoltaics or heat pumps in the My Energy 5.0 program, they are similar to those at the basic funding level in the Clean Air program, as illustrated in the table below.
| My Energy 5.0 grant amount |
Clean Air grant amount |
|
| photovoltaics | up to 7000 zł | up to 6,000 zł |
| ground source heat pump | up to 28,500 zł | up to 28,000 zł |
| air-water heat pump | up to 12,600 | up to 12,600 zł |
| enhanced energy class air-water heat pump | up to 19,400 | up to 19,400 zł |
| air-air heat pump | up to 4,400 | up to 4,400 |
It cannot be unequivocally determined which program is more profitable. It depends, among other things, on the type of investment and the level of funding for which you qualify in the Clean Air program.
